AN ACT REQUIRING LICENSED SOCIAL WORKERS AND COUNSELORS TO COMPLETE CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSEWORK IN CULTURAL FOUNDATIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 20-195u of the general statutes be amended to require licensed clinical social workers, master social workers, professional counselors, alcohol and drug counselors and marital and family therapists to complete continuing education coursework in cultural foundations.

Statement of Purpose:

To ensure persons offering counseling services are culturally competent and to reduce or eliminate disparities which exist in under-served populations.
