AN ACT CONCERNING PAYMENT TO AN AMBULANCE SERVICE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2015) No ambulance service, as defined in section 19a-175 of the general statutes, shall attempt to collect payment from a person with health insurance for services provided to such person prior to receiving notice from such person's health insurer that it declines to pay for such services.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To protect patients by preventing ambulance services from attempting to collect payment from a person with health insurance for services prior to receiving notice from the insurer that it declines to pay for such services.
