AN ACT CONCERNING HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS OF MEDICARE RECIPIENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2011) The Commissioner of Public Health shall study the admission procedures used by hospitals when treating Medicare recipients for episodes of care extending beyond a period of twenty-four hours. The commissioner shall submit, in accordance with section 11-4a of the general statutes, findings and recommendations to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to aging and public health not later than January 1, 2012.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
