AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF SCHOOL BUSES POWERED BY ELECTRICITY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2011) The Commissioner of Education shall adopt regulations, in accordance with the provisions of chapter 54 of the general statutes, establishing an implementation schedule under which all school buses purchased or leased by a municipality, or local or regional school district, shall be powered by electricity.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

Statement of Purpose:
To ensure that newly-purchased or leased school buses are energy efficient and less expensive to operate.
