AN ACT REQUIRING LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTING OF THE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL TO MINORS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2010) The Commissioner of Public Safety, each municipal police department and each constable of any town shall notify the Commissioner of Consumer Protection not later than one week after the start of an investigation regarding the serious injury or death of a person under twenty-one years of age who has been served alcoholic liquor by a person holding or acting on behalf of the holder of a permit authorizing the sale of alcoholic liquor to the public pursuant to title 30 of the general statutes. Such notification shall be in writing and shall contain the name of such seriously injured or dead person, the date and time of the alleged incident, the name and address of such permit holder, and the status of the investigation.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To require law enforcement officials to report investigations regarding minors who have been served alcohol by liquor permittees to the Department of Consumer Protection.
