AN ACT AUTHORIZING MUNICIPALITIES TO LEVEL LOCAL SALES TAXES ON FOOD AND HOTEL OCCUPANCY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to authorize municipalities to levy a local sales tax on food and a local hotel occupancy tax, provided such municipality reduce the amount of property taxes payable by an amount equal to the local sales tax revenue collected.
Statement of Purpose:
To authorize municipalities to levy a local sales tax on food and a local hotel occupancy tax, provided such municipality reduce the amount of property taxes payable by an amount equal to the local sales tax revenue collected.
