AN ACT CONCERNING DISBURSEMENTS FROM THE TOBACCO SETTLEMENT FUND AND MONEYS RECEIVED FROM TOBACCO TAXES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 4-28e of the 2014 supplement to the general statutes be amended to require thirty-three per cent of the total amount on deposit in the Tobacco Settlement Fund and the amount received by the state from taxes on tobacco products be disbursed to programs that (1) relate to tobacco education, prevention and cessation, (2) promote pulmonary health, (3) reduce the incidents of asthma, and (4) expand access to health care for uninsured persons.
Statement of Purpose:
To ensure that a percentage of state funds in the Tobacco Settlement Fund and moneys derived from taxes on tobacco products are allocated to programs that ameliorate the ill effects of tobacco products.
