That section 14-300f of the general statutes be amended to (1) change the penalty for the first violation of said section from a fine not less than one hundred dollars and not more than five hundred dollars to a fine of four hundred fifty dollars, and (2) require a police officer to issue a summons or written warning to the owner of a vehicle upon receipt of a written report from a school crossing guard that adequately describes said vehicle and identifies it as having failed to stop at a particular place and time when directed to do so.
Statement of Purpose:
To strengthen the penalties available when the operator of a motor vehicle violates section 14-300f of the general statutes by failing to immediately stop when directed to do so by a school crossing guard.
