CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE—
2017–2018 REGULAR SESSION
Senate Bill | No. 1278 |
Introduced by Senator Hueso |
February 16, 2018 |
An act to amend Section 475 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to the Office of Binational Border Health.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
SB 1278, as introduced, Hueso.
Office of Binational Border Health.
Existing law required the former State Department of Health Services to establish a permanent Office of Binational Border Health to facilitate cooperation between health officials and health professionals in California and Mexico, to reduce the risk of disease in the California border region, and in those areas directly affected by border health conditions. Certain powers of the former State Department of Health Services are now vested in the State Department of Public Health.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision by deleting obsolete references to the former State Department of Health Services and the former Director of Health Services, and would instead make reference to the State Department of Public Health and the Director of Public Health for those purposes.
