   An act relating to housing and community development.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 1178, as introduced, Correa. Individuals with developmental
disabilities.
   Existing law sets forth the intent of the Legislature to provide
housing assistance for the developmentally or physically disabled,
and mentally disordered where the assistance is for the purpose of
providing a transition from an institutional to an independent
setting, and where that assistance is administered in the context of
ongoing local programs leading to rehabilitation and independence.
Existing law requires the Department of Housing and Community
Development to establish a program for these purposes.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would require the Department of Housing and
Community Development to report to the Legislature on the status of
the housing needs of individuals with developmental delays.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to require the Department of Housing and Community
Development to report to the Legislature on the status of the housing
needs of individuals with developmental delays.
