Relative to gubernatorial appointments.

ACR 151, as introduced, Voepel. Gubernatorial appointments: military service.
This measure would request that the Governor consider appointing current and former military personnel to state boards and councils.
Fiscal Committee: NO  

WHEREAS, Current and former military persons are individuals who can provide a sense of responsibility, transparency, and timely decisionmaking, set a good example to subordinates, and provide a passionate approach to issue areas that are tasked; and
WHEREAS, Military personnel have dedicated their lives for the public good, community safety, and ensuring our national security. Further, those who serve or have served in the military will diversify state boards and councils under sole recommendations given by the Governor; and
WHEREAS, Military persons come from different fields of work and educational background and can provide state boards and councils with strong communication skills, teamwork, strong collaboration, adaptability, strong problem-solving abilities, attention to critical observation, conflict resolution, and mission-oriented qualities; and
WHEREAS, All of the above-stated qualities reflect the qualifications of successful state boards and councils; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Governor consider nominating individuals with military background to ensure military representation through appointments to appropriate state boards and councils; and be it further
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
