An act to amend Section 6267 of the Water Code, relating to dams and reservoirs.

AB 487, as introduced, Gallagher. Department of Water Resources: dams and reservoirs: notice.
Existing law requires the Department of Water Resources to supervise the construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, maintenance, operation, and removal of dams and reservoirs for the protection of life and property. Existing law prohibits commencing construction of any new dam or reservoir or the enlargement of any dam or reservoir until the owner has applied for and obtained written approval of plans and specifications from the department. Existing law, if an application is approved, requires notice to be given to the department at least 10 days before construction is to be commenced.
This bill would instead require notice to be given to the department at least one month before construction is to be commenced.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 6267 of the Water Code is amended to read:

6267.
 Notice shall be given to the department at least 10 days one month before construction is to be commenced commenced, and such any other notices shall be given to the department as it may require.
