Assembly Bill | No. 389 |
Introduced by Assembly Members Salas, Caballero, and Ridley-Thomas |
February 09, 2017 |
An act to add Chapter 2.5 (commencing with Section 26025) to Division 10 of the Business and Professions Code, relating to marijuana.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 389, as amended, Salas.
Marijuana: consumer guide.
The Medical Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MCRSA) provides for the licensure and regulation of medical marijuana. The Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act of 2016 (AUMA), an initiative measure enacted by the approval of Proposition 64 at the November 8, 2016, statewide general election, authorizes the consumption of nonmedical marijuana by persons over 21 years of age and provides for the licensure and regulation of certain commercial nonmedical marijuana activities. AUMA establishes the administrative and enforcement responsibilities of the Bureau of Marijuana, within the Department of Consumer Affairs, and the Director of Consumer Affairs with regard to both AUMA and MCRSA.
This bill would require the bureau, by July 1, 2018, to establish and make available on its Internet Web site a consumer guide to educate the public
on the regulation of medical and nonmedical marijuana.
