An act to add Chapter 10 (commencing with Section 119407) to Part 15 of Division 104 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to washing machines.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


AB 3232, as introduced, Friedman. Commercial washing machines: microfiber filter.
Existing law, to protect public health and water quality, regulates a broad range of consumer products and processes, including water softeners, water treatment devices, and backflow prevention devices, among others.
This bill would require that all washing machines for commercial sale in California contain a microfiber filtration system with a 90% or greater filtration rate.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Chapter 10 (commencing with Section 119407) is added to Part 15 of Division 104 of the Health and Safety Code, to read:
CHAPTER  10. Commercial Washing Machines

119407.
 On or before January 1, 2023, all washing machines for commercial sale in California shall contain a microfiber filtration system with a 90-percent or greater filtration rate on or before January 1, 2023.
