A CONCURRENT MEMORIAL

 

urging the school districts and charter schools in this state to recognize and celebrate TRADITIONAL american holidays.

To the school districts and charter schools of this state:

Your memorialist respectfully represents:

Whereas, traditional American holidays are an inherent part of the fabric of our culture; and

Whereas, traditional American holidays are recognized by the majority of the families with children in public school classrooms.

Wherefore your memorialist, the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring, prays:

1.  That the school districts and charter schools of this state are encouraged to recognize and celebrate traditional American holidays.

2.  That the celebration of these holidays may include classroom learning that enhances the understanding of the history of these holidays and related holidays celebrated in other cultures and countries.

3.  That the Secretary of State of the State of Arizona transmit copies of this Memorial to the Governor of the State of Arizona, the Superintendent of Public Instruction of the State of Arizona, the State Board for Charter Schools of the State of Arizona and each school district governing board and each charter school governing body in the State of Arizona.
