AN ACT

 

Amending Title 36, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 36‑122; regarding colorectal cancer screening and treatment.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 36, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 36‑122, to read:

START_STATUTE36-122.  Colorectal cancer screening and treatment program; fund; exemption; purpose; program termination

A.  The colorectal cancer screening and treatment program is established in the department.  The purpose of the program is to promote colorectal cancer education, treatment, outreach, screening and diagnostic and treatment services in this state.

B.  The colorectal cancer screening and treatment program fund is established consisting of monies appropriated by the legislature, any federal monies received by the department for education, treatment, outreach and direct colorectal cancer screening services and any gifts, grants and donations received by the department for these purposes.  The director shall administer the fund.  Not more than ten percent of monies deposited in the fund annually may be used for the cost of administering the fund.  Monies in the fund are continuously appropriated and are exempt from the provisions of section 35‑190 relating to lapsing of appropriations.

C.  The director shall allocate monies from the fund for colorectal cancer education, outreach, screening, diagnostic and treatment services in this state.

D.  The program established by this section ends on July 1, 2025 pursuant to section 41-3102. END_STATUTE
