Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Section 44-1649, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE44-1649.  Joint legislative committee on metal theft

The president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives for the fifty‑sixth legislature, first regular session may appoint a joint legislative committee on metal theft that is composed of legislators to review the effectiveness of this article in deterring crime and the costs of compliance to industries affected by this article.  The committee may report on its findings to the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives by December November 1, 2023.
