HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 172

Urging the U. S. Congress to take swift bipartisan action to prevent the closure of the air traffic control towers located at the Lewisburg, Parkersburg and Wheeling, West Virginia, airports.

    Whereas, The air traffic control towers at the Lewisburg, Parkersburg and Wheeling airports provide essential services that West Virginians depend on; and

    Whereas, The air traffic control towers at the Lewisburg, Parkersburg, and Wheeling airports are a vital part of the state’s transportation network in that they serve not only general aviation but also medical, commercial and military traffic; and

    Whereas, The closure of air traffic control towers in communities across West Virginia has a direct impact on the safety of thousands of our citizens; and

    Whereas, The closure of the air traffic controls at the Lewisburg, Parkersburg and Wheeling would have a negative economic impact on not only these areas but the entire state; therefore, be it

    Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the U. S. Congress is urged to take swift bipartisan action to prevent the closure of the air traffic control towers located at the Lewisburg, Parkersburg and Wheeling, West Virginia, airports; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates forward a certified copy of this resolution to the members of the West Virginia delegation to the United States Senate and House of Representatives.
