A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-2-43, relating to requiring the State Board of Education to develop and implement an online database for the employment of school principals, other administrators and central office personnel.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


ARTICLE 2. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.


§18-2-43. Online database of employment opportunities for school principals, other administrators and central office personnel.


(a) On or before January 1, 2021, the state board shall develop and implement an online database for employment openings for school principals, other administrators and central office personnel in the West Virginia public schools. At a minimum each opening shall provide the following information to prospective applicants:

(1) Job title, school name and location, and salary range;

(2) Knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies requirements;

(3) Minimum education and experience requirements;

(4) Description of job duties and responsibilities; and

(5) Job benefits.

(b) Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications requirements may upload resumes, certifications, and other evidence of qualifications.

(c) County boards of education have the option of participating in the online database and if they so choose they also must agree to interview qualified candidates from the database before employing other search options.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the State Board of Education to develop and implement an online database for the employment of school principals, other administrators and central office personnel.
