A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §16-1-20, relating to registration period for nurse aide registrants.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
ARTICLE 1. STATE PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM.
§16-1-20. Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification to modify registration period for nurse aide registrants.
To the extent permitted by federal law, the Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification shall modify the Nurse Aide Program so that:
(1) An individual’s registration expires every other year on June 30;
(2) The initial registration period for a nurse aide is for a period of one to two years so that the registration expires on the second June 30 occurring after the initial approval; and
(3) Each reregistration is renewed for a period beginning on the date of renewal and expiring on the second June 30 following the date of renewal.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to make the registration for a nurse aide expire every other year on June 30.
