A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-4-2c, relating to providing pay increases for teachers and counselors.


Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated§18A-4-2c, to read as follows:


ARTICLE 4.  SALARIES, WAGES AND OTHER BENEFITS.


§18A‑4‑2c. One time across-the-board raise for teachers and counselors; additional pay for years of service.

 In addition to salaries, wages and other benefits provided for teachers and counselors elsewhere in this article on the effective date of this section, there is provided effective July 1, 2015, the following:

(1) A $1500 per year across-the-board pay raise to all teachers and counselors effective July 1, 2015;

(2) An additional $500 pay per year after five years of service, including present service;

(3) An additional $500 pay per year after ten years of service, including present service; and

(4) An additional $500 pay per year after fifteen years of service, including present service.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide additional pay for state teachers and counselors.

 

§18A-4-2c is new; therefore, it has been completely underscored.
