WHEREAS, Ryan Jisup Kim, a student at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County, was named a Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar by the Society for Science in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Kim was selected as one of the top 300 scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) for his project titled, "Hybrid Quantum-Classical Machine Learning for Dementia Detection"; and
WHEREAS, the Regeneron STS is one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious science and math competitions for high school seniors and offers students a national platform for presenting their original research, honoring the determination and innovation of young scientists who are working to address major global challenges; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Kim was selected as a Regeneron STS Scholar from 2,162 total applicants who hailed from 712 high schools across 46 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, and ten other countries; and
WHEREAS, Ryan Kim received this distinguished accolade in recognition of his extraordinary research skills, dedication to academics, creativity, and promise as a future scientist; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Ryan Jisup Kim hereby be commended for being named a 2024 Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar by the Society for Science; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ryan Jisup Kim as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his achievement and best wishes for his continued success.
