Celebrating the life of Athaline S. Fisher.

WHEREAS, Athaline S. Fisher, a beloved member of the Portsmouth community, died on January 15, 2013; and

WHEREAS, born in Suffolk, Athaline Fisher attended Booker T. Washington High School and Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Athaline Fisher was an emeritus member of the Epicureans, now known as National Epicureans, Inc., an organization that encourages civic involvement and promotes social, cultural, and charitable concerns; and

WHEREAS, Athaline Fisher also served the community as a member of Merry Makers Club, Inc., an organization that promotes social, intellectual, and moral well-being in the community, and a member of Martha Chapter No. 10 of the Order of the Eastern Star; and

WHEREAS, Athaline Fisher enjoyed faith and fellowship with the community at Zion Baptist Church in Portsmouth, where she was a loyal member for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by her husband of 52 years, John, Athaline Fisher is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Karen and Jeffrey, and their families; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a cheerful, active member of the Portsmouth community, Athaline S. Fisher; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Athaline S. Fisher as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
