WHEREAS, the Que and Cruz Festival is a unique event in Louisa County that attracts many celebrity barbecue chefs and other visitors to the Commonwealth for a one-day celebration of good food and local culture; and WHEREAS, the Que and Cruz Festival includes a variety of activities, including a nationally recognized barbecue competition, plus arts and crafts, musical performances, an antique car and truck show, and various live events; and WHEREAS, the Que and Cruz Festival was selected by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) as one of its 2016 sanctioned cook-offs and featured entries in the primary categories of pulled pork, pork ribs, chicken, and brisket; and WHEREAS, the grand champion of the 2016 Que and Cruz Festival/KCBS Cook-Off will qualify to compete in the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and the American Royal World Series of Barbecue in Kansas City, Missouri; and WHEREAS, the Que and Cruz Festival celebrates many of Virginia's finest traditions in the areas of art, music, food, and entertainment; and WHEREAS, the 2016 Que and Cruz Festival will be held at Small Country Campground in Louisa County on October 1, 2016; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Que and Cruz Festival; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the organizers of the Que and Cruz Festival as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the festival's contributions to the Louisa County community. |
