WHEREAS, ArtsLIVE!, an organization in Fredericksburg dedicated to inspiring and educating audiences and celebrating the performing arts in the Rappahannock region, celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2023; and
WHEREAS, ArtsLIVE! was originally founded in 1988 as the Fredericksburg Festival of the Arts by internationally renowned harpist Heidi Lehwalder and other visionary arts lovers of the Fredericksburg community; and
WHEREAS, the Fredericksburg Festival of the Arts evolved from a small, world-class chamber music festival into a premier, year-round presenter of the performing arts in the Rappahannock region; the name was changed to the Fredericksburg Festival of the Performing Arts in 2011 and again to ArtsLIVE! in 2017; and
WHEREAS, ArtsLIVE! is committed to providing high-quality performances in theatre, dance, vocal, and instrumental music for all members of the community; promoting local, state, national, and international artists; fostering partnerships with schools, businesses, civic organizations, and other arts groups; and engaging diverse audiences with a rich array of programming; and
WHEREAS, ArtsLIVE! is one of the longest continuously active performing arts nonprofit organizations in the Fredericksburg region and has successfully enchanted audiences with its ambitious calendar of musical and theatrical performances of the highest artistic integrity for the past 35 years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend ArtsLIVE! on the occasion of its 35th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to ArtsLIVE! as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's history and its contributions to the Commonwealth.
