Commending Zoie Lamanna.

WHEREAS, Zoie Lamanna, an outstanding cross country runner at Jefferson Forest High School, earned her second consecutive state title with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship in November 2023; and

WHEREAS, on the road to the state championship, Zoie Lamanna also repeated as the victor of the Virginia High School League Region 4D tournament, finishing nearly 30 seconds ahead of the second-place runner and leading the Jefferson Forest High School Cavaliers to a fourth-place finish in the team standings; and

WHEREAS, in the state final at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Zoie Lamanna finished first with an impressive time of 17:53; she won by a comfortable 28-second margin and was the only runner to finish in under 18 minutes; and

WHEREAS, Zoie Lamanna maintained her strategy from the 2022 state championship and stayed with the pack for the first two miles before breaking away; she demonstrated both mental preparedness and physical endurance to overcome the course's challenging terrain and

WHEREAS, in the same week as her state championship victory, Zoie Lamanna committed to the University of Tennessee, where she will continue her cross country career; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Zoie Lamanna on winning the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship in 2023; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Zoie Lamanna as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements and best wishes for the future.
