WHEREAS, the Tabb High School field hockey team of York County won the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship on November 11, 2023, at Floyd E. Kellam High School in Virginia Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Tabb High School Tigers beat the Meridian High School Mustangs of Falls Church by a score of 6–0 to bring home the program's third consecutive state championship title and complete its third consecutive undefeated season; and
WHEREAS, the Tabb Tigers' commanding performance was an impressive showing against an undefeated Meridian Mustangs team that had allowed only four goals over the entire regular season; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of their contributions, the Virginia High School League (VHSL) named junior forward Mika Hilburger its Class 3 Player of the Year and coach Wendy Wilson as its Class 3 Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, several members of the Tabb Tigers were honored with VHSL all-state first-team accolades, including Mika Hilburger, Corinne Lombardo, Abbie McGinn, Parker Siegel, Kira Takahashi-Trader, and Libby Yates; and
WHEREAS, the Tabb Tigers have amassed an incredible 68–0 record over the past three seasons and remain poised to continue their reign of dominance into the future; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Tabb Tigers are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Tabb High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Tabb High School field hockey team hereby be commended for winning the 2023 Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Wendy Wilson, coach of the Tabb High School field hockey team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's extraordinary achievement.
