HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 304
Celebrating the life of William Louis Lee.

WHEREAS, William Louis Lee, an active and engaged member of the Lancaster County community, esteemed faith leader, and beloved husband and father, died on February 27, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Louis Lee worked as a truck driver early in his career with Rappahannock Motor Lines and Wilson Trucking Corporation, rising to the position of assistant manager for a distribution center in White Stone; and

WHEREAS, after suffering a disability from an accident at work, Louis Lee retired and shifted his focus to serving the communities of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula with the organization Bay Aging, Inc., which he served for more than 20 years; and

WHEREAS, through his tireless efforts with Bay Aging, Louis Lee helped secure housing for more than 600 families, contributing greatly to the quality of life in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula region; and

WHEREAS, Louis Lee served his community as a member of the Lancaster County Board of Zoning and Appeals beginning in 1993 and as its chair since 2000 and was a member of the Lancaster County Electoral Board for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Louis Lee was a devoted trustee of the Northern Neck Baptist Association from 2021–2023, member of the Lancaster/Northumberland Interfaith Service Council, and District Deputy Grandmaster of Northern Neck for the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, having maintained membership with Palestine Lodge #100 for 49 years; and

WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Louis Lee enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at Beulah Baptist Church in Lively, where he served as a deacon and trustee for more than 30 years and inspired many as a bassist and singer with the church's Gospel Quartets; and

WHEREAS, preceded in death by his son, David, Louis Lee will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley; his children, William, Daniel, and Michael; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of William Louis Lee, a cherished member of the Lancaster County community who was a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew him; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of William Louis Lee as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
