A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 24.2-418.2, relating to voter registration; persons assisting with completion or collection of completed voter registration applications; certain identifying information required.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 24.2-418.2 as follows:

§24.2-418.2. Persons assisting with completion or collection of completed voter registration applications; certain identifying information required.

Any person who assists an applicant with the completion of a voter registration application or collects a completed voter registration application directly from an applicant shall provide his name and telephone number and indicate the group or organization with which he is affiliated, if any, on the registration application. This section shall not apply to any state or local government employee who assists with the completion of registration applications or collects completed registration applications as part of his official duties set forth in this chapter.
