| WHEREAS, J. Glen Dossett is retiring as agriculture | ||
| instructor for the Mineola Independent School District on | ||
| June 30, 2017, concluding a distinguished 50-year career in | ||
| education; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A Mineola native and graduate of East Texas State | ||
| University, Glen Dossett completed his bachelor's degree in | ||
| agriculture science education in 1967 and went to work that same | ||
| year for Pittsburg Independent School District; in 1970, he | ||
| received his master's degree in educational administration and | ||
| joined Mineola Independent School District as its agriculture | ||
| instructor; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dossett has taught a wide variety of courses, | ||
| from animal science to agriculture mechanics; in addition, he has | ||
| served as the district's FFA advisor, and many of the Career and | ||
| Leadership Development Event teams he has trained have competed | ||
| at the state level; he has provided guidance for a host of | ||
| Supervised Agricultural Experience projects and has advised | ||
| students working on FFA degrees, including the American FFA | ||
| degree; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Dossett has served Texas FFA | ||
| as Area VI coordinator and as a member of committees at the | ||
| district, area, and state levels; from 1975 to 1987, he held a | ||
| seat on the board of the Vocational Agriculture Teachers | ||
| Association of Texas, which recognized him for efforts above and | ||
| beyond the call of duty; he has additionally served on the | ||
| AgricultureCommitteeoftheMineolaChamberofCommerceandhas | ||
| coordinated and planned its annual Mineola Hay Show; for his | ||
| contributions to the chamber, he has received both its Appreciation | ||
| Award and its Distinguished Achievement Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dossett is supported by | ||
| the love and encouragement of his wife of 50 years, Darla Sue | ||
| Dossett, and their three daughters, Kristi, Kerri, and Kelli; he | ||
| also takes great pride in his three granddaughters; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Glen Dossett has made a positive difference in the | ||
| lives of numerous Mineola students over the course of five | ||
| decades, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well | ||
| spent as he embarks upon the next exciting chapter of his life; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby congratulate Glen Dossett on his retirement | ||
| as agriculture instructor for the Mineola Independent School | ||
| District and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| Mr. Dossett as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
