| WHEREAS, The members of Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic | ||
| Church in San Antonio are celebrating the 75th anniversary of | ||
| their church's founding on May 16, 2015; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Organized in January 1940, Saint Mary Magdalen | ||
| was first led by the Reverend James M. Boyle, and a new sanctuary | ||
| was dedicated in 1960 to accommodate the growing needs of the | ||
| parish; today, it continues to benefit from the dedicated efforts | ||
| of priests from the Brothers of the Beloved Disciple, and members | ||
| of the clergy who currently provide guidance to the church | ||
| include the Reverend Joseph Marshall, pastor, the Reverend Will | ||
| Combs, parochial vicar, and David Zamora, deacon; and | ||
| WHEREAS, United by their shared faith and strong | ||
| traditions, the members of this notable house of worship have | ||
| established more than 40 ministries that foster fellowship and | ||
| offer help to those in need; the church faithfully serves the | ||
| Archdiocese of San Antonio and maintains a strong emphasis on | ||
| outreach to the wider community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Countless Alamo City residents have looked to | ||
| Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church for spiritual guidance over | ||
| the years, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the parish at | ||
| this special time in its rich history; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of Saint | ||
| Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and extend to its members sincere | ||
| best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for the church as an expression of high regard from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
