SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 93
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Dr. Charlotte J. Davis, the First Lady of Galilee
  Missionary Baptist Church, who is being honored at the Sundresses
  and Sandals celebration on August 12, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Charlotte Davis was baptized
  as a young girl at Greater New Hope Baptist Church; she graduated
  valedictorian of her class at Booker T. Washington High School,
  and she went on to earn two master's degrees in education, an
  accomplishment that allowed her to follow her passion for helping
  young people; in 2006, she earned a doctorate of philosophy in
  counseling education from Sam Houston State University, and she
  currently serves as director of Guidance and Counseling for the
  Aldine Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Davis is a faithful and beloved member of
  Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where her husband, the
  Reverend Dr. Edwin Allen Davis, serves as pastor; she contributes
  to the church by serving as director of the Scholarship Ministry
  and as a Sunday school teacher, and she is always ready to serve
  the church family in any capacity; and
         WHEREAS, A highly respected scholar and community leader,
  Dr. Davis has been recognized by several organizations for her
  many accomplishments; she has been honored with a Woman of
  Excellence Award from the Omicron Tau Omega Chapter of the Alpha
  Kappa Alpha Sorority and with a Living Legend Award from Prairie
  View A&M University; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Davis is a source of strength to the
  congregants of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, and she is
  admired by many for her kindness, her generosity, and her
  faithful service to others; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Dr. Charlotte
  J. Davis for her many contributions to the community and to
  Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and extend to her best wishes
  in all her future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
