| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Veronica Bernal, who is graduating from the first | ||
| fellowship class of New Leaders Council--Houston; and | ||
| WHEREAS, New Leaders Council--Houston is a nonprofit, | ||
| nonpartisan organization that is training a new generation of | ||
| progressives to work together in the public and private sectors and | ||
| to take leadership roles in the promotion of a strong democracy, | ||
| social and economic justice, and equal opportunity; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Veronica Bernal has devoted substantial time and | ||
| resources to honing her leadership skills; she has learned from | ||
| her peers and from experts, and she has developed a deeper | ||
| understanding of progressive values; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She is an actively engaged member of her | ||
| community, and she has demonstrated a deep commitment to building | ||
| a stronger progressive network in order to craft a better future | ||
| for Texas; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Veronica Bernal on her dedication to | ||
| the betterment of her community and state and extend to her | ||
| congratulations and best wishes for much success in the future as a | ||
| Founding Fellow of New Leaders Council--Houston; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
