SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 902
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Texas Senate District 29 Environmental Advisory
  Committee, which is hosting the first annual Water Resources and
  Conservation Symposium on July 14, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Senate District 29 Environmental Advisory
  Committee is chaired by Karl Rimkus, the environmental compliance
  program manager for the City of El Paso's Environmental Services
  Department; and
         WHEREAS, Inspired by the work of Dr. Bill Hargrove and Josiah
  Heyman, researchers at The University of Texas at El Paso, the
  committee organized the symposium with the goal of encouraging
  students to pursue careers related to water management; the
  symposium will provide students opportunities to network with
  industry, academic, and public administration professionals; and
         WHEREAS, El Paso has been a national and international
  leader in developing strategies to ensure the availability of
  clean, affordable water; the State Water Implementation Fund for
  Texas was created to address this important subject, and it has
  received widespread public support; and
         WHEREAS, Managing, conserving, and developing water resources
  are top issues in the southwestern area of the United States, and
  it is truly fitting that the Water Resources and Conservation
  Symposium receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Senate District 29
  Environmental Advisory Committee and its chair, Karl Rimkus, on
  their work in organizing the Water Resources and Conservation
  Symposium and extend to all best wishes for a successful event;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
  committee as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
