| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the members of the Texas Association of Authors for | ||
| their work supporting Texas writers and promoting literacy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Established in 2011, the Texas Association of | ||
| Authors is a nonprofit organization comprised of more than 250 | ||
| authors who help other writers find success through the provision | ||
| of workshops, educational events, and marketing opportunities; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Members of the association further contribute to | ||
| the community by working with other Texas groups and supporting | ||
| the Super Readers program, an initiative aimed at encouraging | ||
| children to read; last year, through the program, members donated | ||
| more than $10,000 in books to schools, libraries, and other | ||
| community partners; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Authors is committed to | ||
| its ongoing mission of "Bringing Texas Authors to the World," and | ||
| its members are indeed deserving of recognition for their work on | ||
| behalf of Texas writers and readers; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Association | ||
| of Authors for their efforts to promote Texas writers and support | ||
| literacy programs and extend to them best wishes for continued | ||
| success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
