	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 737
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Maria Lourdes Villarreal, who is retiring from Oliveira
	Middle School after a 24-year teaching career; and

	WHEREAS, During her years as an educator, Maria Villarreal
	has taught English, English as a second language, Reading, and
	Spanish to students at the junior high and high school levels;
	she is retiring as an eighth-grade English teacher at Oliveira
	Middle School in Brownsville; and

	WHEREAS, Wherever she has served, Mrs. Villarreal has been
	dedicated to facilitating the success of her students; she has
	remained an innovative and resourceful teacher who has presented
	her lessons with enthusiasm; and

	WHEREAS, A positive influence in the lives of her students,
	she has given generously of her time and energy to help them with
	their studies, and she has instilled in them a sense of pride and
	a lifelong love of learning; and

	WHEREAS, Maria Villarreal has armed her students with the
	skills they need to compete in the society of tomorrow, and the
	young people of Brownsville have benefited greatly from her
	diligence and hard work; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
	Legislature, hereby commend Maria Lourdes Villarreal for her
	exemplary contributions to the Brownsville community in the
	field of education and extend to her best wishes in all her future
	endeavors; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
