Katherine Lindley Spaht Dodson | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Dr. Katherine Lindley Spaht Dodson, who | ||
died tragically at the age of 43 on January 26, 2021; and | ||
WHEREAS, A caring, brilliant, and gifted individual, | ||
Lindley Dodson was a highly esteemed citizen and physician, and | ||
she inspired her many friends, colleagues, and loved ones through | ||
her joyful spirit, her easy laughter, and her selfless example; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Born on June 30, 1977, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, | ||
Lindley Spaht earned her diploma from the Episcopal High School | ||
of Baton Rouge in 1995; she went on to graduate magna cum laude | ||
from Washington and Lee University, where she met her future | ||
husband, Frederick Drew Dodson; she attended medical school at | ||
Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and | ||
completed her residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children's | ||
Hospital; she later served as an urgent care physician at Boston | ||
Children's Hospital and as an instructor at Harvard Medical | ||
School; and | ||
WHEREAS, Lindley married Drew Dodson in 2006, and they | ||
moved to Austin the following year; she joined the staff at Dell | ||
Children's Medical Center as a pediatric hospitalist and served | ||
as a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Dell | ||
Medical School; she was twice honored as the Pediatric Faculty | ||
Member of the Year during her 10 years of outstanding service; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, She established her practice at Children's | ||
Medical Group in 2017, and she proudly became an owner of the | ||
organization in 2020; she served as a trusted pediatrician to | ||
countless Austin families and was a much-valued mentor to the | ||
Austin medical community; she was a passionate advocate for | ||
children and a model of professional excellence, and she was | ||
treasured by her patients and their parents for the special | ||
attention and care she gave to each; and | ||
WHEREAS, In her personal life, Lindley delighted in | ||
attending festivals and was a lifelong Louisiana State | ||
University fan; she was a source of strength and joy to her family | ||
and friends, and she cherished spending time with her beloved | ||
husband and their three beautiful children, Shaw, Tucker, and | ||
Loretta; and | ||
WHEREAS, Lindley Dodson was a shining light of warmth and | ||
compassion to the many who were blessed to know her, and she | ||
will long be remembered with profound respect and admiration | ||
by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Dr. Katherine Lindley Spaht Dodson; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Lindley Dodson. | ||
