| WHEREAS, Charles and Jo Ann Whiteside of Kilgore received | ||
| the W. T. Tardy Service Award from East Texas Baptist University | ||
| at the college's homecoming chapel service in October 2018; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. and Mrs. Whiteside have worked diligently to | ||
| further the university's mission of providing faith-based | ||
| education in East Texas; they are dedicated supporters of the | ||
| university's school of communication, school of nursing, and | ||
| performing arts events, and they are regular attendees of the | ||
| annual Great East Texas Hymn Sing and Hilltop University | ||
| conference; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Longtime members of the East Texas community, | ||
| Dr. and Mrs. Whiteside are devoted congregants of First Baptist | ||
| Church Kilgore and serve as advocates for Baptist Student | ||
| Ministry in Texas; the founder of Ana-Lab Corporation in Kilgore, | ||
| Dr. Whiteside operated the company as chief executive officer for | ||
| more than 60 years, and he currently serves as president | ||
| emeritus; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through their commitment to upholding the | ||
| traditions and values of East Texas Baptist University, Charles | ||
| and Jo Ann Whiteside have made a positive difference in the lives | ||
| of countless students, and they are indeed deserving of this | ||
| special recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
| Legislature, hereby congratulate Charles and Jo Ann Whiteside on | ||
| their receipt of the W. T. Tardy Service Award from East Texas | ||
| Baptist University and extend to them sincere best wishes for the | ||
| future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for Dr. and Mrs. Whiteside as an expression of high | ||
| regard by the Texas Senate. | ||
