WHEREAS, Family and friends have been profoundly saddened by | ||
the tragic death of Skylar Brooke Carpenter of Quitman on February | ||
17, 2011, at the age of 15; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born to David and Becky Carpenter in Mount Pleasant | ||
on July 6, 1995, Skylar Carpenter was a sophomore at Quitman High | ||
School, where she served as a class officer; she was active in the | ||
Quitman Anchor Club, the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of | ||
America, and the FFA; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Carpenter also enjoyed fellowship at the First | ||
Baptist Church of Quitman and sang in the church's youth choir; she | ||
was known for her beaming smile, kind heart, and devotion to her | ||
faith; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although her journey on this earth ended far too | ||
soon, Skylar Carpenter will always be remembered with great | ||
affection by all who were fortunate enough to share in her love and | ||
friendship; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Skylar Brooke | ||
Carpenter and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: | ||
to her parents, David and Becky Carpenter; to her sister, Shelbi | ||
Carpenter; to her aunts and uncle, Tammy Daniel, Brenda Boyer, and | ||
Roger and Melissa Thornton; and to her other relatives and many | ||
friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Skylar | ||
Carpenter. | ||
