WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of | ||
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and John and JoAnn Millwee | ||
of Midland celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on | ||
January 6, 2013; and | ||
WHEREAS, The couple were introduced by a mutual friend while | ||
Mr. Millwee was attending Texas Tech University and Mrs. Millwee | ||
was a coed at Odessa College; following Mr. Millwee's graduation, | ||
they were married in 1953 in the bride's home in Odessa; over the | ||
years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes | ||
two daughters and their spouses, Lynda and Walter Krol and Sandy and | ||
Daniel Jordan, as well as six grandchildren, Stephanie Krol and her | ||
fiance, Michael McCurdy, Alexander Krol, Michael Krol and his | ||
fiancee, Taylor Nelson, and Jonathan, Victoria, and Matthew Jordan; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Residents of Midland throughout their marriage, the | ||
couple have operated Millwee Oil Incorporated since establishing | ||
the company in 1978; Mr. Millwee previously served his country as a | ||
paratrooper with the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for 25 | ||
years as a geologist for Fred Turner; he is a member of the Permian | ||
Basin Petroleum Association and Midland Country Club, and | ||
Mrs. Millwee, fondly known by many as "Granny," is a longtime | ||
Sunday school teacher at Stonegate Fellowship; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Millwee have enjoyed six decades of | ||
abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an | ||
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting | ||
commitment; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate John and JoAnn Millwee on their | ||
60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for | ||
continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Millwee as an expression of high regard | ||
by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
