WHEREAS, Kierra Anjoyah Williams has been crowned the | ||
2013-2014 Tribal Princess for the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Kierra Williams will reign over such events as the | ||
45th Annual Powwow, an important cultural celebration that features | ||
Native American dancers from across the United States and allows | ||
the general public to enjoy tribal artistry; she will serve as an | ||
ambassador to the wider community throughout the year as well; and | ||
WHEREAS, The 16-year-old daughter of Kyle and Glenda Williams | ||
of the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation, Ms. Williams is a rising | ||
junior at Big Sandy High School, where she is very active in the | ||
Indian Culture Club; in addition, she plays basketball and | ||
softball; and | ||
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the rich heritage of the | ||
Alabama-Coushatta Tribe, Kierra Williams is helping to carry on | ||
vital traditions and serving as a role model to other young people, | ||
and she is a source of great pride to her parents and her community; | ||
now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Kierra | ||
Anjoyah Williams on her selection as the 2013-2014 Tribal Princess | ||
for the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas and extend to her sincere | ||
best wishes for the coming year; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Williams as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
