WHEREAS, Victoria Godinez was selected to participate in the | ||
2017 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the | ||
85th Legislative Session, she has ably served her fellow Texans as | ||
an aide in the office of State Representative Justin Rodriguez; and | ||
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative | ||
Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university | ||
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time | ||
policy interns in the offices of members of the Texas House of | ||
Representatives; and | ||
WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure at the State Capitol, | ||
Ms. Godinez has provided vital assistance in handling a wide | ||
variety of challenging tasks; in addition to gaining valuable | ||
experience in the field of public service, she has learned more | ||
about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the | ||
Lone Star State; she previously interned in the office of State | ||
Representative Chris Turner and took part in an academic seminar at | ||
the 2016 Democratic National Convention; and | ||
WHEREAS, A first-generation college student, Ms. Godinez | ||
graduated from St. Edward's University in December 2016 with a | ||
bachelor's degree in political science; she contributed to the | ||
Student Government Association as a senator and as director of | ||
communications and also participated in a number of the school's | ||
service projects; her long-term goals include earning a doctorate | ||
in public policy and pursuing a career in political activism; and | ||
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her | ||
duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is | ||
indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commend Victoria Godinez on her participation in | ||
the 2017 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and extend to | ||
her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Godinez as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
