WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their | ||
memories of John P. Dewine of Cleveland, Ohio, who passed away on | ||
January 18, 2017, at the age of 62; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Victoria and Lawrence Dewine, John Dewine | ||
was born in Troy, New York, on July 16, 1954; he attended Our Lady of | ||
Mt. Carmel Grammar School and Watervliet Junior High School and | ||
went on to graduate from LaSalle Institute in Troy as a member of | ||
the Class of 1972; continuing his studies, he completed his | ||
bachelor's degree in civil engineering at Worcester Polytechnic | ||
Institute in Massachusetts, where he served as president of his | ||
fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Dewine moved to Cleveland, Ohio, the city in | ||
which he proudly resided for most of his life, and began a 40-year | ||
career with Turner Construction Company; he earned widespread | ||
respect for his skill and professionalism, and at the time of his | ||
passing, he was serving as the firm's vice president and operations | ||
manager; through the years, he was involved in the construction of | ||
numerous major buildings in Cleveland, including the homes of two | ||
of his beloved sports teams, the Browns and Cavaliers; and | ||
WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his loved ones, Mr. Dewine was the | ||
father of John P. Dewine II and Brentt Hardy; he was also very | ||
supportive of his friends and colleagues and was always willing to | ||
do what he could to help them succeed; and | ||
WHEREAS, An accomplished professional and a caring friend and | ||
family member, John Dewine lived a rich and purposeful life, and he | ||
will forever be remembered with deep affection by all those who were | ||
fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of John P. Dewine and | ||
extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his | ||
mother, Victoria M. Crispo Dewine; to his sons, John P. Dewine II | ||
and Brentt Hardy; to his siblings, Mary Ellen Kane and her husband, | ||
John, Larry Dewine and his wife, Katie, and Rick Dewine; to his | ||
cousins, Maureen and Dick Huberty, Lisa and Tom Holden, and Dan and | ||
Janet Huberty; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John | ||
Dewine. | ||
