R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends continue to treasure their
  memories of Brooks County deputy sheriff Ramiro Perez Jr., who was
  killed in the line of duty on July 29, 1995; and
         WHEREAS, On that day, Deputy Perez was leaving the scene of an
  accident to respond to another call when his patrol car was struck
  by a fire truck; he was 30 years old; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure with the sheriff's
  office, Deputy Perez earned the respect and admiration of his
  fellow officers with his skill, integrity, and dedication to duty;
  and
         WHEREAS, This brave officer left behind to mourn his passing
  a wife, two daughters, and a son; his untimely death was a profound
  loss to his family, his comrades in uniform, and the entire
  community; and
         WHEREAS, Deputy
  Perez adhered to the highest ideals of his
  profession, embracing its demands for courage, selflessness, sound
  judgment, and unwavering composure, and those who were blessed to
  share in his love and affection will forever carry him close in
  their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Deputy Sheriff Ramiro
  Perez Jr.; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramiro
  Perez Jr.
