R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |
|
memories of Samuel Lee Sherman, who passed away on January 13, 2019, |
|
at the age of 77; and |
|
WHEREAS, S. L. Sherman was born on April 8, 1941, in McNeil, |
|
Arkansas, to John and Fannie Sherman, and he grew up with the |
|
companionship of 10 siblings, Herman Lee, Willie, Marcell, Ozell, |
|
Bernice, Sarah Nell, Salitha, Ollie, Dorthea Faye, and Ovell; and |
|
WHEREAS, After graduating from McNeil High School, |
|
Mr. Sherman moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, to attend trade school |
|
for diesel mechanics; he then went on to enjoy a long and rewarding |
|
career as the owner and operator of S&L Automotive Shop in San |
|
Antonio, where he worked until his retirement; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Sherman was joined in matrimony to Hattie |
|
Andrews, and their union was blessed with six beloved children, |
|
Lynn and Earl Hutchinson and Richard, Samuel, Diannah, and Carl |
|
Sherman; with the passing years, Mr. Sherman had the pleasure of |
|
seeing his family grow to include numerous grandchildren and |
|
great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Sherman was a member of |
|
Rising Star Baptist Church in San Antonio, and later in life, he |
|
joined the congregation at Mountain View Church of Christ; and |
|
WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, S. L. Sherman |
|
leaves behind many loved ones whose lives are far richer for having |
|
known him, and he will always hold a treasured place in their |
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Samuel Lee Sherman |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to those who mourn his passing; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Samuel Lee |
|
Sherman. |
