WHEREAS, Marie Hendricks Payne of Lake Jackson is reaching a | ||
special milestone on June 17, 2013, when she marks her 100th | ||
birthday; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born a century ago to Jesse Banks and Mary Ida | ||
Hendricks, the former Marie Hendricks grew up on a farm in Oklahoma; | ||
on July 18, 1931, at the age of 18, she married Clifford Payne; the | ||
couple shared more than six decades together and were blessed with a | ||
daughter, Mary Helen; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Payne has dedicated herself to her home and to | ||
her family, which today includes two grandchildren, Gail and Donna; | ||
a resident of the Lake Jackson community for 70 years, she is known | ||
for her strong faith and is a valued member of First Baptist Church | ||
of Clute; and | ||
WHEREAS, Marie Payne is a source of tremendous inspiration, | ||
and in sharing the experience gained through a century of life well | ||
lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that benefits all who | ||
are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Marie | ||
Hendricks Payne on the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday and | ||
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be | ||
it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mrs. Payne as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. |
