R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Alvan
  Richard Sandoval of The Colony, who died on January 25, 2017, at the
  age of 72; and
         WHEREAS, Richard Sandoval was born to Joseph Noe and
  Guadalupe Maria Maestas Sandoval on February 17, 1944, in Brighton,
  Colorado; he grew up with the companionship of nine siblings, and
  from an early age, he did farm work with his family; after
  graduating from high school, he entered the U.S. Navy, earning
  several medals for his exemplary service as a Seabee in Vietnam; and
         WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Sandoval settled in
  the San Francisco Bay area and worked for Ford Aerospace
  supervising computer operators; he eventually moved to North Texas,
  where he volunteered with The Colony Police Department and joined
  the American Legion, often serving as a sergeant at arms for the
  honor and color guards at flag ceremonies; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Sandoval was the devoted father of three
  children, Alan and his wife, Allison, Jenell and her husband,
  Kerry, and David and his wife, Melissa; he enjoyed 38 rewarding
  years with his wife, the former Carol Larason, and he was an
  affectionate stepfather to her sons, Jeff and David; later in life,
  he took pleasure in welcoming many grandchildren and
  great-grandchildren into his family; and
         WHEREAS, A loving husband and father and a proud veteran,
  Richard Sandoval lived a full and generous life, and he will forever
  be a source of inspiration to those he leaves behind; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Alvan Richard
  Sandoval and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Richard
  Sandoval.
