R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A number of student-athletes from schools
  throughout House District 19 enjoyed great success at the 2017
  University Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet, held
  May 11-13 at The University of Texas at Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Pacing Silsbee High School in the meet's 4A
  competition, Kalon Barnes earned gold medals in the boys' 100-meter
  dash and 200-meter dash events, and he was also part of the
  second-place 4x100-meter relay team, along with Calvin Tyler, Trey
  Lowe, and Willie Jones; fellow Tiger Eranishia Carmenar placed
  fourth in the girls' 200-meter dash and sixth in the 100-meter dash;
  and
         WHEREAS, Also competing in the 4A division, three athletes
  from Hardin-Jefferson High School in Sour Lake made a strong
  showing in the finals; Wreagan Taylor received a silver medal in the
  girls' 100-meter dash event, and Raylie Huff and Talon Tilley each
  placed fourth in the girls' triple jump and boys' 110-meter hurdles,
  respectively; and
         WHEREAS, In 1A competition, Isaih Garzon of Goodrich High
  School finished eighth in the boys' 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter
  runs, and his teammate Davante Hughes also placed eighth in the
  boys' high jump contest; moreover, Burkeville High School student
  Keyunce Price earned a gold medal in the girls' 200-meter dash and
  placed seventh in the 100-meter dash; and
         WHEREAS, Other area athletes to take part in the state meet
  were Jaylon Williams of Corrigan-Camden High School, who secured a
  fourth-place finish in the 3A boys' 300-meter hurdles, Cade Skuza
  of Jasper High School, who earned fifth in the 4A boys' pole vault
  event, and Holli Shannon of Deweyville High School, who finished
  eighth in the 2A girls' 100-meter hurdles; and
         WHEREAS, These talented young Texans have excelled through
  skill, hard work, and an enduring commitment to excellence, and
  they are a source of tremendous pride to their families, their
  schools, and their communities; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kalon Barnes, Calvin Tyler,
  Eranishia Carmenar, Isaih Garzon, Raylie Huff, Davante Hughes,
  Willie Jones, Trey Lowe, Keyunce Price, Holli Shannon, Cade Skuza,
  Wreagan Taylor, Talon Tilley, and Jaylon Williams on competing in
  the 2017 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to them sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the athletes as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
