R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Lackland
  Memorial Post 9174 of San Antonio are celebrating its 50th
  anniversary on February 10, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Founded by Woodrow Willis and chartered in 1961,
  this post began with 75 members and now numbers approximately 500;
  its hall has always been located in South San Antonio, in the
  vicinity of Lackland Air Force Base; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception, the post has consistently
  embraced the vision of the VFW, advocating for veterans and their
  families, serving the community, and promoting patriotism; in
  carrying out the VFW's mission, members of the post have devoted
  innumerable hours to community service and to raising money for
  charitable causes; their achievements and commitment to VFW
  programs have earned them distinction twice as an All American Post
  and three times as an All State Post; and
         WHEREAS, For five decades, VFW Lackland Memorial Post 9174
  has sought to ensure that veterans and their families receive the
  recognition they have earned for their immeasurable service and
  sacrifice in this country's behalf, and it is fitting that, on this
  special milestone, the post be honored for its outstanding
  contributions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding
  of VFW Lackland Memorial Post 9174 and commend its members for their
  exceptional service to their fellow veterans; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the post as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
