WHEREAS, Chris Canales was elected to represent District 8 on | ||
the El Paso City Council on December 17, 2022; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Mr. Canales has served as a | ||
legislative staff person, advocate, organizer, and sustainability | ||
consultant, and he is a previous chief of staff for the El Paso City | ||
Council District 8 office; in addition, he draws on the experience | ||
he gained working for the New York City Department of Parks and | ||
Recreation; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Canales holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia | ||
University, and he is a graduate of Leadership El Paso; a founding | ||
member of the Conscious Barrio organization, he has also served as | ||
co-chair of the community council for the Vitalant blood bank, and | ||
he volunteers as a soccer referee; and | ||
WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of | ||
life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts | ||
of Chris Canales will help to make El Paso an even better place in | ||
which to live and work; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Chris Canales on his election as | ||
the District 8 representative on the El Paso City Council and extend | ||
to him sincere best wishes for a productive and successful tenure in | ||
office; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Canales as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
